THE
TRINITY
VERSES
WHICH AT FIRST GLANCE SEEM TO TEACH THE DOCTRINE
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God,
and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with
God.
All things were made by him; and without him was not any
thing made that was made. (John 1:1-3)
LITERAL
TRANSLATION OF GREEK OF VERSES 1 AND 2
“In a beginning was the Word, and the Word was with
The God, and a god was the Word. The same was in a beginning
with The God.” I and my Father are one. (John 10:30)
Compare above, to see how they are one, with
Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which
shall believe on me through their word; That they all may
be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that
they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that
thou hast sent me. (John 17:20,21)
Compare
Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you,
and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen
me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew
us the Father? (John 14:9)
with
So God created man in his own image, in the image of God
created he him; (Gen. 1:27)
Compare
And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with
the glory which I had with thee before the world was. (John
17:5)
with And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them;
that they may be one, even as we are one: (John 17:22)
Literal translation of
For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.
(Col. 2:9)
is “Because in him dwells all the fulness of the Deity
bodily.”
For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father,
the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. And
there are three that bear witness in earth, the spirit,
and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one.
(1 John 5:7,8)
The italicized words in these verses are admitted by all
students to be spurious and are not to be found in the revised
version.* Having examined the scriptures usually relied
upon to prove the doctrine of the Trinity, let us now look
at those against the doctrine.
VERSES SHOWING THE SUPERIORITY OF THE FATHER
But
of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels
which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father. (Mark
13:32)
Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily,
I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what
he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth,
these also doeth the Son likewise. (John 5:19)
Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again
unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said,
I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I. (John
14:28)
For he hath put all things under his feet. But when he saith
all things are put under him, it is manifest that he is
excepted, which did put all things under him.
And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall
the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things
under him, that God may be all in all. (1 Cor. 15:27,28)

With the spurious words removed, it will be seen that the
genuine inspired language of 1 John 5:7,8 corroborates that
oneness we see in John 10:30 with John 17:20-22.
VERSES, THE LITERAL TRANSLATION OF WHICH SHOW THAT JESUS
MADE NO CLAIM OF EQUALITY WITH GOD
Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to
be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and
took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the
likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he
humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the
death of the cross. (Phil. 2:5-8)
The literal translation of the Greek is as follows: “Let
this disposition be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus,
Who, though being in God’s form, yet did not meditate
a usurpation to be like God, But divested himself, taking
a bondsman’s form, having been made in the likeness
of men; And being in condition as a man, he humbled himself,
becoming obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.”

VERSES
SHOWING THAT LIFE AND POWER WERE NOT HIS TILL GIVEN BY THE
FATHER
For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given
to the Son to have life in himself; (John 5:26)
And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is
given unto me in heaven and in earth. (Matt. 28:18)
VERSES
SHOWING THAT JESUS WAS CREATED
Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of
every creature: (Col. 1:15)
And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write;
These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness,
the beginning of the creation of God; (Rev. 3:14)
VERSES WHICH FLATLY CONTRADICT THE DOCTRINE
There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called
in one hope of your calling; One Lord, one faith, one baptism,
One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through
all, and in you all. (Eph. 4:4-6)
And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the
only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. (John
17:3)
Now a mediator is not a mediator of one, but God is one.
(Gal. 3:20)
For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men,
the man Christ Jesus; Who gave himself a ransom for all,
to be testified in due time. (1 Tim. 2:5,6)
As concerning therefore the eating of those things that
are offered in sacrifice unto idols, we know that an idol
is nothing in the world, and that there is none other God
but one. For though there be that are called gods, whether
in heaven or in earth, (as there be gods many, and lords
many,) But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom
are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ,
by whom are all things, and we by him. (1 Cor. 8:4-6)
